Intended Audience: Water Operators, Utility Managers, Board Members, Technical Assistance Providers
This class will teach attendees how to conduct financial analysis of their utility in the development of budgets and rates.
Objectives:
• Analyze revenue and expenses for budget development.
• Learn how to effectively develop water and wastewater rates.
• Calculate affordability metrics.
• Develop annual reserve fund contributions toward future projects and asset management replacement.
• Use financial ratios to track financial viability.
• Consider workforce and maintenance needs for budget development.
• Learn about resources and methods to predict future financial factors that can impact utility costs.
