Event Details

Each of us applies the basic principles of asset management every day to manage decisions related to our businesses, homes, automobiles, and personal possessions.  In this combined Transportation Asset Management & Gravel Road Basics workshop, we will address asset management issues faced specifically by local officials who make decisions about roads for cities, counties, townships, and counties.  No engineering background is necessary.

This workshop will provide an introduction to several core components:
> Pavement deterioration basics - stay ahead of the curve
> Preventative maintenance for asphalt roads - a mix of fixes
> Selecting projects to maximize return on asphalt road investments
> Basics of gravel road construction and materials
> Common distresses that gravel roads experience
> Methods of maintaining gravel roads
> Impact of drainage systems on gravel roads
